Hi, I’m Ian – ultra runner, adventurer, UESCA certified Ultrarunning and Sports Psychology Coach and creator of Ink and Trails. Running has taken me on some amazing trails, through unforgettable races and reshaped how I approach coaching, growth and resilience. Ink and Trails was build from that experience, not just as a platform but as a coaching practice.

How it all started
My journey into ultra running began in 2014 while training for my first marathon. Inspired by Born to Run, I signed up for Glen Ogle 33 before I even ran my first marathon. That year sparked a passion for trail running and pushing beyond what I thought was possible, leaning into discomfort and adventure.

What Ink and Trails represents
Ink and Trails reflects two things:
- Stories earnt through effort
- Growth shaped by challenge
Every race leaves a mark. Every trail teaches us something. Coaching for me is about helping athletes create their own version of that story thoughtfully, sustainably and with purpose.
